The New Adobe CS5 look

I got inspired to do a post on the new look of CS5 after visiting the Adobe Roadshow last week.
The new CS5 suite is looking absolutely amazing, wether youre a designer, coder, or making content in flash. You're gonna love it, i believe it's going to change the way we work!

Lets start by looking at the icons, here's a before and after of both CS4 and
CS5:

Here are some more images dating back from when every single program would have a different number e.g. Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10, trough to the current CS5

I also really appreciate the icometric grid they've used in the new design of icons and loading screens, maybe it's because i love iso grids but i believe it's something completely different; just like the software. You can also notice the inspiration they got from works of M.C. Escher who was definitely a pioneer when it came to isometric grids of which he based a lot of his graphic art on. Good to see they broke away from the standard rectangle box they used in older CS and experimented successfully with geometry, dimension, and translucency.

Here's a picture of the new splash screens:
The other great thing about the splash screens you will all love is that they won't load in the foreground, this means that for us designers we can just keep on doing what we where doing before the software launched, awesome you think; but wait there is more. Check out these interactive web pages they have created showing of the products features, every page is different http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/mastercollection/
It's just proof that surrealistic art is alive and well and can be used effectively in todays creative advertising.
If you want to read an interesting interview Veerle (by the way you should really check out her website, shes an amazing designer and very inspirational)had with the lead designer about how they came to the new branding, you should probably check out this link here.

  1. Can't say I know much about the history of how the design for Adobe has changed but I can definitely say that I like it how it is now.

    Much more simplistic now. :)
